With the start of the Fall semester, we welcome Ellen Eischen as the newest tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics.
Eischen recently completed three years as a Ralph Boas Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Northwestern, after earning an A.B. from Princeton and Ph.D. from Michigan. Her primary research area is in algebraic number theory. An award-winning instructor in her previous position, her first teaching at Carolina will be in the upper-level undergraduate Math 577 Algebra class this Fall.
One of the Eischen’s spare-time activities is improv, having recently completed the improv training program at Chicago’s iO (formerly improv Olympic) Training Center.
Please join me in welcoming Ellen.
