Mathematics participates in UNC Science Expo

This past weekend, the Department of Mathematics once again put on a great set of activities for the UNC Science Expo (link includes a prominent image of our cornstarch walk across demonstration). Mathematics had an incredible outpouring of effort from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty. The wide variety of activities used to describe and discuss mathematics depicted in the pictures below include juggling, card tricks, probability games, soap bubbles, and a wide variety of fluid dynamics problems.

Enormous thank yous are due to our graduate student community in the Department, many of whom participated. Thank you also to Professor Jeremy Marzuola and Department Chair Richard McLaughlin for providing the faculty organization for our participation. The photographs below were taken by graduate students Claudia Falcon and Ryo Moore.
